Watch out, Obama is going to do an end run around the Congress to get the gun control he desires. We have warned you before on this blog, that the Obaminator will use his “administrative” powers to put gun control in place. In the following article by Bob Livingston, we see that prediction is coming true.
Obama Trying Gun Control End Run
According to gun rights reporter, Dan Roberts, firearms are now being confiscated from gun owners because of their mental health information. For example:“[John Doe] received a letter from the Pistol Permit Department informing him that his license was immediately revoked upon information that he was seeing a therapist for anxiety and had been prescribed an anxiety drug. He was never suicidal, never violent, and has no criminal history.”So now taking anxiety pills can result in one’s forfeiting their Second Amendment rights in New York!
With the run-off election for the Republican nomination coming up, Republicans in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District seem eager to deliver an early Christmas present to Democrats.
His name is Mark Sanford:
Voters here have heard all the reasons to keep former Gov. Mark Sanford retired from politics.
He’s damaged goods. He risks handing a safe Republican congressional seat to the sister of liberal comedian Stephen Colbert. The 1st Congressional District needs a conservative who lives the talk instead of issuing apologies.
Yet, Sanford appears to be on the cusp of clinching the Republican nomination Tuesday for the right to take on Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch in a May 7 special election that’s sure to become a national spectacle.
In the grand scheme of modern Republican Party strategy, this makes total sense. Why wouldn’t you want to focus national attention on your disgraced, philandering candidate? It’s like the GOP is looking to shoot itself in the foot and South Carolina voters have volunteered the firearm.
“I think, by and large, people are forgiving, especially if they believe your repentance is real. If they believe you are asking for forgiveness authentically and sincerely, then I think people are willing to give people a second chance. I’ve been around the governor, and it seems authentic and sincere to me,” South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Chad Connelly told Politico. “I do think the people of the 1st Congressional District know him well. He’s run there before, and they’ve supported him. If there’s any group that’s willing to give him a second chance, this is it.”

Forget threats of furloughed workers or reduced security at embassies.
Here’s what might be the most powerful incentive yet for members of Congress to come up with a deal to avert the sequester: the head of the Air Force today warned that the spending cuts that will go into effect March 1 could cause the military to eliminate those lovely miljet flights that lawmakers enjoy.
Members of Congress adore flying on Air Force jets, particularly for overseas trips — there are no security lines, check-in is a breeze, the service couldn’t be better, and it’s business class-only.
But if the government-wide cuts aren’t thwarted and the military has to pinch pennies, lawmakers might have to kiss those perks goodbye, Air Force Secretary Michael Donley told the crowd at the Air Force Association’s winter conference in Orlando, Fla., we’re told.
Only logical response:

“The Nevada Democrat says it’s up to congressional Republicans to come up with a plan that both houses would pass and President Barack Obama would sign.”
We blame both sides of the political spectrum. It is extreme dereliction of duty for them to have not passed and sent a budget to the President. They should be brought up on charges for not fulfilling their Constitutionally mandated responsibilities. Some times the only way to get a mule’s attention is to hit them over the head with a 2×4! Ours is the following.

We might have disagreed with Dr. Paul’s foreign policy but had hoped that he would be named Secretary of the Treasury had Romney won. Unfortunately for all of us, that did not occur.
Ron Paul has now retired but we hardly believe that he will go out to pasture. We expect that he will be writing and making speeches for years.
Have a great retirement, Dr. Paul and thanks for the final words.

As you know, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. recently resigned his seat in Congress amid a federal investigation into his campaign spending and ongoing mental health problems. Now, a potential replacement is stepping forward… again.
Meet former Congressman Mel Reynolds:
Only in Chicago, folks:
Mel Reynolds, an ex-con convicted of bank fraud and having sex with a 16-year-old girl when he was in his 40s, wants to replace the embattled Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress.
Standing in front of signs that read “Redemption” Reynolds held a news conference on Wednesday saying he would run in a special election after Jackson resigned in disgrace last week in the midst of a federal investigation.
It was Reynolds who Jackson replaced 17 years ago —in a special election — after Reynolds himself resigned in disgrace after his conviction.
“It’s what you do after the mistakes,” Reynolds said, adding that his crimes were “almost 18, 20 years ago,” and shouldn’t be a life sentence. “I want to serve.”
And to those who wonder if he has no shame, Reynolds has this to say:
“I say to those people that I’m not perfect. If you’re perfect, I’m not appealing. I’m appealing to people who want to take a fair look at all of my history, all of my work, all of my education. What I’ve done since those times … and make a fair judgment,” said Reynolds, a onetime Rhodes scholar.
Oh, well if he’s a Rhodes scholar, then… Nope. Still can’t stand this guy.

Filed under News | Comment (0)Last year, Texas Rep. Ron Paul announced that he would not run for reelection in 2012. With the final days of his last term now winding down, the libertarian patron saint took to the floor of the House of Representatives Wednesday to deliver his farewell remarks.
To read the entire 16-page speech, click here.
Here are some notable highlights:
–Paul concedes that by conventional measures, he accomplished very little during his tenure in Congress. But the fact that no federal buildings were ever named in his honor didn’t distract him from his ultimate goal: advocating for smaller government and more liberty.
“In spite of my efforts, the government has grown exponentially, taxes remain excessive, and the prolific increase of incomprehensible regulations continues,” he said. “Wars are constant and pursued without congressional declaration, deficits rise to the sky, poverty is rampant and dependency on the federal government is now worse than any time in our history.
“All this with minimal concerns for the deficits and unfunded liabilities that common sense tells us cannot go on much longer.”
–The Texas rep says the “major stumbling block” to real change in Washington isn’t partisan division, but a “total resistance to admitting that the country is broke.” For this, he faults both sides of the aisle, noting that compromise has been “inevitable since neither side has any intention of cutting spending.”
–He also commented on authoritarianism vs. the universal struggle for liberty and commented that the United States — once the most prosperous and free nation on the planet — has been deteriorating into “pure democracy”:
“Freedom, private property, and enforceable voluntary contracts, generate wealth. In our early history we were very much aware of this. But in the early part of the 20th century our politicians promoted the notion that the tax and monetary systems had to change if we were to involve ourselves in excessive domestic and military spending. That is why Congress gave us the Federal Reserve and the income tax. The majority of Americans and many government officials agreed that sacrificing some liberty was necessary to carry out what some claimed to be “progressive” ideas. Pure democracy became acceptable.
They failed to recognized that what they were doing was exactly opposite of what the colonists were seeking when they broke away from the British.”
–He stressed the importance of maintaining freedom on the Internet, to serve as “the alternative to the government/media complex that controls the news and most political propaganda.” And also celebrated homeschooling as a revolutionary key to restoring limited government.
–Finally, Paul called on all Americans to infuse government with “the moral principles of peace and tolerance.” He cited Benjamin Franklin, who once said that “only a virtuous people are capable of freedom,” and John Adams, who said the Constitution was “made for a moral and religious people.”
